Exams, exams and REVISION :-D

Afraid that this part of the year is when we are filling our heads with info until they mince up into putty, and generally try to learn something for the next day/hour/minute.

Yup, its GCSE time (for those not in the UK, its our final school exams, and they're quite important!).

Anyway, here's some revision tips for those of you who aren't interested (most of my readers I assume...):
  • Take freqent breaks (not bickies, breaks from learning)
  • Close your book after reading a page and remember as much as you can (you know, like those TV competitions)
  • Listen to your music if you feel like it (maybe not death metal...)
  • Don't let your friends push you into not revising, and playing games instead (ahem.)
  • Enjoy yourself (yeah?)

How not to escape a detention

My class mates lack of imagination often suprises me. They are quite often late to a lesson, and generally get into trouble because of it.

It is amazing how a little thought could get them out of trouble - a tidy excuse / alibi goes a long way.

If they have just come in from the field, having messed around with their game of football for too long, then their reason for being late is "sorry miss, I was putting my ball away."

You'd think that they'd come out with a nice, neat, tidy excuse like "I was taking tommy to first aid."

This is the same problem with MPs - no imagination.

Which is why we are in a recession.

Make life easier: don't think

I was in for a shock when I Iogged into my computer account at school this morning. Or rather, TRIED to log in.

"Login denied. You have been locked out of your account. Please contact a network administrator." was the cheerful message designed to brighten up my day.

So, as I was traipsing up the stairs to the ICT dep., I began to wonder why I had been locked out. The usual reasons for an admin locking you out at school is one of the following: you have been playing too many online games [yep] / you have entered a virus onto the IT system [don't think so] / your 'friends' have tried to guess your password too many times [probably]. So, with a 1 out of 3 score, my chances were looking pretty slim.

It was with a heavy heart that I summoned up the strength to knock on the door. "Oh, sorry mate, I'll just reset your password for you"

I could have hugged him. I didn't. Instead I mustered up a world-weary grin, and thanked him.

It just goes to show - life is an awful lot easier if you don't think.

The time has come when the applications for Head Boy and Head Girl come flooding in. Or more to the point, are sent by me. [yeah, haha not the one for Head Girl]

Anyway, we've had the interview, the team building excercises etc. and now we just have to find out who's been selected. We were going to find out on Friday according to the letter. Friday, according to the headmaster when he 'interviewed' us. Friday, according to some guy who asked him during Fridays lunchtime. Yeah? Well it's Tuesday now.

Can you guess what the requirements are? Good attendence, punctuality, reliability, and many more ...ility words.

Funny, that.

Poetry sucks

Ok guys, I've done all my English GCSE Coursework. 'Yeah, good for you. So what?' you're thinking

Well, now I've finished, I have the wonderful treat of doing poetry. Now, for all you poetic freaks out there, yes poetry can be quite good at times.

Unfortunately not this time.

We've got a whole anthology to basically learn off by heart, a massive load of annotations to do, and god knows what else.

'where does this relate to me?' I hear you asking. Well, back in the middle ages, people who liked poetry were allowed to get on with it; without shoving it down everybody else's throat. Including mine.

Yup, these days we all feel obliged to sit straight and kill our manly sides slowly, 'cos it's polite.

And I don't know why either. If we were all honest, and told people what we really thought, they'd stop feeding it to us like baby food.

Yum, yum [extreme sarcasm]

Science is sometimes stupid - use of alliteration or what?..

I was watching Dr. Who the other day, and it occured to me what a lifestyle he has. Not only can he wizz off about the Universe, but he has total freedom to do whatever he wants. If he upsets a couple of monsters, no worries mate, i'll just escape with my 'bigger in the inside' tardis. If he breaks a few laws, hey who cares? I'm the Dr. However, this occured to me.. I am currently taking a Science GCSE. (Please don't get bored). Can you gues what topic we're doing now?

Go on.

No.

No.

No, your still wrong. I'll have to tell you. Radiation and the UNIVERSE. Do you realise? I'm soon going to be cleverer than the Dr., cleverer than Gordon Brown (who, I've just realised, can't count), cleverer than anyone. I'm learning the Universe. This is a bit of a double whammy, since radiation seems to be a bit of a big thing to learn in a few weeks, let alone black holes, gravity, quantum physics, light, you, me, everything in the Universe.

The Universe.

I can see I'm going to have to write a thesis.

I'm going to be a MILLIONAIRE.

Hang on. I'm not the only one to have this privalidge. There are 120 kids I know who are going to rival me - the brightest kids in the world.

We know the Universe.

My brain is going to explode.

Last out of class

Don't worry, I know you're fed up with blogs spilling the auther's life story into your lap like some kind of leporic cat, so I will attempt to liven up my version. I started the day with a growing uneasiness about the humungus problem of the 'almost at half term' scenario. It has almost fallen upon us, and there are a number of reasons why this is not a good thing. Teachers deciding to leave you for a week with a though of how nice they are, not piling on the homework.

I wish

Yup, you guessed it. "Your half term homework...", "So, what I want you to do over half term is...", "Thanks for reminding me X, over half term...", and the most tantalisingly close glimpse of freedom came crashing to the floor with "So that's it for todays lesson, and I hope you have a great half term. Oh, wait, I alomost forgot, over half term, what I want you to do is..." Thankfully, there seemed to be a sense of telepathic communication floating through the classroom, with the general inclination to

RUNNNN

Only 2 were left in the room, so the escapees held a memorial service for the great duties they had done for their mates, holding the door and being tramplled by the migrating herds.

It was with great reverance that their names were remembered in the fraction-of-a-second between pointing and laughing, and belting at full speed to the canteen before the thousands of Year 7s made it before us.

Their numbers are reaching the peak of sanity.

Oh dear.
